I want to go on the record as being an unapologetic lover of Valentine’s Day. Is it a cynical capitalistic ploy that encourages consumerism under the guise of love? Absolutely. Does it sometimes make people feel bad about being single? Unfortunately. It’s also a day that’s about being unabashedly earnest and romantic, plus it’s kitschy as hell, all things I adore (the aesthetics alone are second only to Christmas). Any day that encourages emotions like passion, yearning, adulation and tenderness is a day I look forward to.
Plus, not to get all “what the world needs now is love” on you, but… what the world needs now is love. And whatever or whomever that looks like for each of us, after the year we’ve collectively had (we’re on week 5 people) we deserve to look and feel good. Below, my TRR Valentine’s Day edit, including looks for everything from a flirty date night to Galentine’s festivities to what I’ll hopefully be doing - being fed chocolates in bed.
